Nicole: Hi, everyone. My name is Nicole, and this is my husband, Matt. We joined with Phil about six months ago and we just closed our first deal. And we wanted to share some details with you.
Matt: Yeah, my name’s Matt. I’m a global technical sales manager full time, and my wife works in Amazon, but she was a real estate agent prior. And we’ve always been interested in real estate. And it’s funny I was watching Phil’s movies for about a year and a half, and taking notes, and typing them all up, and reviewing them, and I was like, “Man, this guy really makes a lot of sense to me.” And he kept saying, “Hey, click here for my free book.” And I never did, because I thought I was going to get bombarded with junk email. And one day I did and on his website it said, become an Apprentice. And so I clicked it and the rest is history.
Nicole: Yeah. So like Matt said, I was a real estate agent for a long time, for over 10 years and now I’m working for Amazon, but we got into this business and we read everything. We watched all the videos. We did everything.
Matt: And it wasn’t easy either. I remember when we first started off, we’re pouring this money into Google, pulling our hair out saying, “What is going on? All we’re doing is spending money.” And I worked with Gilbert, and he worked relentlessly with me and Nicole, and he got it to where we were really humming along. Somebody would type in, “buy my house for cash” or whatever. And we’re in the top three every time. And that’s what led us to our first deal.
Actually, me and Nicole were sitting down for dinner, my phone rings and this lady was yelling at us, “Where are you? Where are you? You’re supposed to be here.” And I was like, “Lady, I’m sorry, we haven’t spoken ever. But how can I help you?” And come to find out one of our top competitors who we kept bouncing back and forth in spot number one with, was when she called. And then when she Googled again, because she couldn’t remember his name, we showed up and she called us. We ended up getting that house under contract for $48,000. After the inspection, we renegotiated to $41,500. We close on October 20th. We sold it for $67,500 and we closed on November 26th.
Nicole: So the moral of the story is, when we first got involved about six months ago, we did not know much about investing and being an investor, but due to Phil and his team, they got us rolling. They got us knowledgeable enough to now we’re talking to people so much easier and it’s so much easier to get things under contract and we know what we’re doing.
Matt: I remember our first phone call, the guy called up. I was so scared. I was shaking in my boots and I’m a global technical sales manager. My job is to talk to people, but I’m an expert in my field at work and here I wasn’t. And it was very frightening to me, but now we just pick up the phone and it’s a conversation. That’s all it is. And then sure enough, I mean, we’ve been just getting busier and busier. On that first deal after we paid all of our dues, our fees, the insurance, we paid back the loan officers and everything else. We netted $18,300. So we’re very happy about that. Phil, Brian, Stephanie, John, all the coaches, Gilbert, we can’t thank you enough.
