My name is Marisa. I’m 23. I’m from Minnesota. And I work in health and fitness.
I read a book about two years ago, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki, and I thought, “I want to be free.” I was in school at the time and thought, the path I’m on right now probably isn’t going to get me to the life of my dreams, that is appearing now possible to me. So, I started doing some research.
I tried out the local RIAs, I read a bunch of books. And one way or the other, my brother actually found Freedom Mentors. He’s like, “Marisa, come check this out. You’ve got to see this. This guy is legit.” Right? Because we had been through the RIAs, we had been through stuff and we’re like, “Where do I start?” That’s how we found Freedom Mentors, and that’s how we’re on the path we’re on now.
My experience is now that we’re actually in Freedom Mentors, I will not be the first to say it’s a golden ticket. When I first was accepted I was like, “Oh my gosh, David. We won the lottery.” And then we had to do work. So, that reality check of, there’s a lot of work to be done, there’s a lot to be learned. Phil, the coaches, provide a huge support system.
One of the most exciting things for me was recently we closed a deal with one of Phil’s special techniques, that he’s really excited, he recently developed two and a half years ago. It’s just amazing. At closing, the woman who we closed with, she was in her 70’s, her face was so radiant. I said, “Cindy, why are you so excited?” She’s like, “Thank you so much for buying my house.” She looked at her phone, she goes, “My grandson, this is the first nice text I’ve gotten from him in three months.”
The backstory on that was he was living in the basement, smoking up a storm, bringing his girlfriend in at all hours of the night. And she goes, “I feel like he actually respects me now.” And to be able to give that to somebody was so rewarding, so special. That just made my day, and made me remember this is my community. It’s not just I’m making money, but I’m actually making the community better and making a difference.
I’ve been in the program almost a year. And thinking through what I’ve done in the past year, what I’m going to do as soon as I get home in the future. One thing Phil talks about is to increase what we get, we have to increase our production. And so, I may have been slacking a little bit. Right? I was excited at first and then pulled off the gas a little bit. Right? I’m going to go back, I’m going to hit the gas pedal hard. We got a seller lead today. I called them already. I mean, I’m really excited to get back and close some deals and just… You know what I mean.
And to see how far Phil has come is really inspiring to me, because some days it’s not easy. Some days picking up the seller calls, it’s scary sometimes. Not everyone is happy to talk to me. Sometimes people hang up. That can be disappointing and make me want to hold back a little bit, but to see, “Okay, he does it anyways.” Phil picks up the call. Lindsey gets on. They all do it anyways. And that’s really, really inspiring.
